Here are few more tips to help you and your precious “teddy bear” puppy for a smooth transition to her new home:
First puppy-proofing your home
Puppies are lively, curious and teethe, and has a lower vantage point, which means may be attracted to things that you normally could not see, so here are couple suggestions:
- Confine your puppy to a safe area inside and keep doors and windows closed, let her to explore the new environment slowly.
- Your puppy should be supervised inside or outside.
- Keep your puppy off high decks or porches.
- Remove poisonous houseplants or cleaning supplies.
- Remove electrical cords
- Keep toilet lids down.
- Keep all plastic bags away from your puppy.
Supplies you will need
- Crate: the crate is your puppy’s “house”, his special place to sleep, stay and go to feel safe. You may buy a adjustable crate for his rapid growth.
- Collar and leash: light weight nylon or leather is perfect to puppies, and six feet is the best length for walking.
- ID tag: all puppies at Angelwhite will microchipped, it will come with a ID tag, please attach it to the collar.
- Food and water bowls: bowls should be easy to clean. Stainless steel bows in a holder are perfect to puppies.
- Grooming tools: daily brush is recommend, bring your puppy to a professional groomer once a month to maintain the best condition.
- Toys: safe toys are important, try to find a toy made for puppies.
- Switch the puppy food gradually, within 10 days.
As a puppy owner
In order to have a happy companionship to your new puppy, it is better that the new owner is understanding your new friend and well prepared emotionally.
Here are a few rules to follow to train your puppies:
- Be a pack leader to your puppy, be firm but gentle, and protective.
- Be consistent with each command.
- Never hit your puppy for disobeying.
- Aways praise your puppy for good behavior.
- Sign up for a puppy socialization or puppy training class
- Talk to all family members about the puppy rules.
- The MOST important thing to your new puppy: your unconditioned love, and Patience and time.
